Carpet Water Damage Restoration & Mold Removal
Carpet service and maintenance. FAQs related to proper care and clean-up of your carpets are found below.
How can I protect the colors of handmade rugs?
Handmade Persian rugs are sensitive and since their colors are natural, they require careful rug cleaning procedures. You can clean them with baking soda, which can be left for a few hours before vacuumed. You can use a soft scrub brush to apply vinegar, which will certainly revive them. Of course, you would need to keep them away from direct exposure to the sun because colors may fade away.
How do I store handmade rugs?
All handmade wool rugs need to breathe. In this context, you need to make small holes when you wrap them with plastic bags. If you cover them with cotton sheets, it would be better because this is a natural material that will let them breathe. Rug cleaning should be preceded and if you want, you can wrap them with moth repellents. Just keep them from damp places to avoid water damage.
Should I put carpets in the kitchen?
Carpets are not ideal for the kitchen floor because stain removal will be needed all the time, especially if you cook every day and have children. There is also a big possibility of water damage since they will be close to plumbing installations and sinks. Tiles are best for kitchen floors but you can also place a rug, which can be lifted or perhaps cleaned in the washing machine. Make your life easy.
Is winter a good time to clean my carpet?
Yes, winter is a good time to clean your carpets as it will stay clean longer in the winter, and it dries quicker. Also in the winter, your home is tight so your carpet functions as a huge filter to trap dust, smoke, pollen, and any air pollutants. So it becomes easier to remove.
What are HEPA filters?
These filters are used in vacuum cleaners. HEPA stands for high-efficiency particle arresting. As their name explains, the filters work to capture dust, pollen and other tiny particles that a traditional vacuum would typically shoot back in the air during cleaning. Hence, the filters make vacuuming more effective and help to remove more allergens from the indoor environment. It is best if the attachments such as the beater bar are made not to release such particles.
